Cosplay: Ayuzawa Misaki

6:37 PM

After my first cosplay, I wasn't really in a total cosplay planning mode. It was my last term in college and I had to study really hard and finish my thesis plus attend my on-the-job training (OJT). [Btw, where I went for my OJT was the magazine my articles first got published.]

As soon as I finished my thesis and OJT, it was graduation time! So yeah, again, had no time to prepare really. Excited for the life of relaxing after years of going to school. :D

It was a bit later after grduation that I decided to prepare for my next cosplay and that was Ayuzawa Misaki from Kaichou wa Maid-sama! Actually, I'm a fan of both the manga and the anime. I decided to cosplay her because: 1) I'm fond of her character and 2) according to my friends, I'm just like her [they keep telling me our similarities in the way we look and act but I really can't completely agree with it].

So, how did I prepare for her look?

For the dress and accessories, I had some help with tailoring. I'm still studying on how to sew my own clothes so for now I'm getting some help with my trusted seamstress. I got the black socks from a store on ebay.ph. It's not really that hard to find knee-high black socks from Department Stores but I already got these black socks before-hand. These are the same black socks that I used for my Mikan Sakura costume.

For the wig, I got them for a good price of 360 php at a Department Store in Makati. Though of course the style wasn't exactly the same so I had to style it. The downside to the wig that I got is that it's synthetic and not heat-resistant. Whatever blow-dry or ironing I did,  it didn't work. I got some tips from Youtube on how to make synthetic wigs look natural. Here's the one that I mostly followed: http://www.youtube.com/embed/HF6cf_Ly5Ac

For the bangs, I put on some wax to keep it where I want it. You would notice in the picture that the bangs are 95% unaffected by any movements.

For Misaki's boots, I bought a Dark Brown Knee-high boots and black shoe-laces from a Lace and Cloth Store near our place. I used a glue gun to stick the lace on the boots following the pattern on the concept picture. I really wanted my cosplay to look nearly the same as the concept photo so I had to say goodbye to the true style of the boots.
